Teach Thought Podcast
I was drawn to this podcast because I wanted to learn about new methods of engaging my students.
I’ve been listening for a few years and have been inspired many times to apply their ideas not only to my own classroom,
but to my department. I listened to Let’s Start with Why a few years ago and it inspired me to read Simon Sinek’s book.
As a department at La Jolla Country Day, we discussed the book and used it to guide our curriculum review summary that spring.
I continue to look back on my notes from the book and the podcast whenever I am brainstorming about new ideas.
It’s important to define WHY you are doing things, then every action item makes more sense.
I also go back and search the Teach Thought website whenever I need direction or inspiration.

I can’t wait to listen to this new one: https://www.teachthought.com/podcast/the-teachthought-podcast-ep-146-does-education-have-a-twitter-problem/
I already started reading the blog of the guest: http://ideasandthoughts.org/2018/12/18/digital-citizenship-where-are-we-now/
I have to agree with some of the ideas he wrote. I can’t believe that I want to ban cell phones and lock down my students’ ipads
after I was the teacher who always wanted all the technology out all the time. Over the past 2 years, I am finding that the
distraction of social media for my students is starting to outweigh the benefits of my favorite tech-based lessons.
I’m struggling to find the best ways to keep them on task and engaged for at least 30 minutes.

I am creating this post for one of the Alludo challenges and I expect my plans will continue to develop.
So, will I develop a discrete lesson based on my exploration of the Teach Thought Podcast–maybe, maybe not.
But I definitely continue to evolve my teaching style as a result of ideas from the podcast. If anyone listens to this podcast
and has a specific episode they like, I’d love to get together and discuss it!
