I can see signs of legitimate burn-out in many peers, and it is only October.

A PD day re-watching the no.1 TED talk of all time followed by various discussions and ideation parties – including all staff.

Service units for active participation in someone else’s club as a member

Normalize paper covered tables around the school with cups of crayons – hanging up sections of them often 

Bring back buskers.

I highly value intent and approach.

Paragraphs are not always better.

  1. 100% agree that paragraphs are not always better.

    Where can I get paper to wrap my tables? I'm down for this idea.

    Agree on the burnout, too. I know part of mine is because of family issues, but I have 135 students this year, and I feel like I can't give them all the support they deserve to do the best they could. I'd love to be able to engage with all of them one on one and really discuss where their sticking points are, or to encourage them to go down that tangent that made their eyes light up, but I don't have the time.

  2. "Creativity is not the property of specific academic departments." (YES!) And I'll add: A musician resides in EACH of us. Just because you may have been told by someone to "sing softer" doesn't mean you don't have a voice in there! You just didn't have the right teacher, or the right instrument.
