Agree on the burnout, too. I know part of mine is because of family issues, but I have 135 students this year, and I feel like I can't give them all the support they deserve to do the best they could. I'd love to be able to engage with all of them one on one and really discuss where their sticking points are, or to encourage them to go down that tangent that made their eyes light up, but I don't have the time.

"Creativity is not the property of specific academic departments." (YES!) And I'll add: A musician resides in EACH of us. Just because you may have been told by someone to "sing softer" doesn't mean you don't have a voice in there! You just didn't have the right teacher, or the right instrument.
